Istanbul rewards executives who plan around it. The city spans two continents and a busy strait, and the difference between a productive trip and a frustrating one often comes down to three decisions: the airport, the neighbourhood and the timing of each move across the city.

Choose the airport for your agenda

Istanbul has two international airports. Istanbul Airport (IST) on the European side handles most long-haul and European flights. Sabiha Gökçen (SAW) sits on the Asian side and can be the better choice when meetings are in the Asian business districts.

Journey times into the city vary widely with traffic. We plan transfers around the flight, not the clock, and track every arrival so the chauffeur is waiting even when a flight lands early or late.

Stay where the agenda is

Where you sleep shapes how much of the city you actually see.

  • Levent and Maslak: the main business districts on the European side, close to many corporate offices and towers.
  • Karaköy and Galata: design hotels, restaurants and easy access to both the old city and the business districts.
  • The Bosphorus waterfront: palace hotels on the water, ideal when the trip includes client hospitality.
  • Sultanahmet: best for travellers who want the historic peninsula on their doorstep.

An evening on the Bosphorus

The single best use of a free evening is the water. A private yacht from the European shore passes palaces, fortresses and waterfront mansions beneath the illuminated bridges. It works equally well as a quiet dinner after a long day or as a hosted evening for clients.

Two hours on the Bosphorus does more for a client relationship than a week of dinners on land.

A morning in the old city

With a free morning, a private licensed guide can cover Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque and Topkapı Palace before lunch. A few practical points:

  1. Check opening days. Topkapı Palace is traditionally closed on Tuesdays, so we plan around it.
  2. Respect prayer times. Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque are active mosques; visits pause during prayers and modest dress is expected.
  3. Start early. An early start avoids the busiest hours and keeps the afternoon free for meetings.

A dedicated chauffeur turns a city of traffic into a series of short, predictable moves.

Moving around the city

A dedicated chauffeur for the length of the stay is the most reliable way to keep to a schedule. For crossings between Europe and Asia at busy times, a private boat can be faster than the bridges, and it is a far better view.
